5 Ways to Use Social Media to Grow Your Business

Social media is now the king of marketing. Everyone is using it.

But, not many utilize social media with the intent of growing their businesses. Best practices are always changing and it takes time to build and execute an effective strategy.

Perhaps, you are wondering if it’s worth your time? My answer, “Most definitely!” Keep reading to find out why.

There is more to social media than what meets the eye. You’re likely already using it to share pictures and memes with family and friends. But, it is an excellent resource for expanding your business, too.

Here are some ways I recommend using social media to grow your business.

1. Networking

Just like how you get in touch with friends and family, use social media to connect with other entrepreneurs from all over the world. If you are looking for an expert in something, you will find one — and probably more than one!

Two of the most prominent networking platforms are Linkedin and Facebook. Linkedin was made for professionals to connect while Facebook has evolved over the years to serve various purposes.

With Facebook groups, entrepreneurs flock into different groups to meet others, share ideas and even trade services. There’s also a variety of video calling platforms — perfect for a virtual coffee. You no longer have to meet someone in a café or bar to network!

2. Building your brand image or raising brand awareness

Social media is an excellent tool to sell your products or services, but do not forget the power of brand identity. Branding is another way of sharing your company’s personality.

Consumers nowadays wish to connect with a company’s message. Displaying your brand image, logo, tagline, values and personality through different social media channels will enable your company to raise awareness of its name and offerings.

3. Bringing in traffic to your website

Along with brand identity, you want people to come to your site. Once there, the goal is to convert them into paying customers. Having your website link posted on different social media platforms increases the chance that people will discover your site.

One major platform is Pinterest, which enables viewers to access multiple links from your website through visual graphics. Usually, Pinterest is paired with your website’s blog, which also helps with search engine optimization.

4. Building a community or tribe

You must be putting out content that resonates with your target audience. Through this content, you can build a tribe that allows people to feel like they belong to a club or organization.

One word that is important to know is engagement. Engaging with other businesses and clients builds a sense of community and belonging. What is engagement? Engagement is seeing comments on your posts, story replies and gaining followers. The more you engage with others, the more they will engage with you and the more your online presence grows.

5. Spreading your own voice

YouTube, Lives, Podcasts, etc., can allow you to share your voice (literally) with the world. The more you show yourself, the more trustworthy you appear. Consumers are looking to connect with the companies, even more than just a brand.

What is a better way of showcasing who you are then by doing videos or voice programs? This doesn’t mean you have to share every little detail about yourself or your life but sharing aspects that pertain to your business and connect with your target audience is a must!

Business Success with Social Media

Social media is a fantastic tool that you CAN learn to use to grow your business. It’s amazing what becomes possible when you shift your mindset and take steps to learn something new—even if it seems beyond your reach when getting started!
